Online marketing is a clown fiesta.

It has been for a long time. The rise of influencers, who have no clue about business, has taken it to a new level.

If a writer doesn’t have a million followers, they’re worthless. If a writer has a different opinion, they’re a hater. If a writer doesn’t wear a pink wig of the day, they’re a clown.

I used to wear a clown suit. Like a real clown, I’d walk down the street and randomly spray people with a water pistol. I’d wear a big red nose and tell stupid jokes. But I grew up.

I’m now taking off my clown suit. The world of online writers needs to do the same and take another look at its strategies.

About two years ago, it started to become clear that SEO strategies don’t work anymore.

You can’t outsmart Google, which will eventually figure out what you are doing and add negative SEO weight to your sites.

Then came growth hacking.
